Advice for Use: To help maintain a healthy aquarium, change filter media according to the instructions. Remove the carbon when medicating the water as carbon will absorb the medications. I have had several of the Cascade brand canisters that have lasted years and done a great job. This one is junk. We spent the last 6 months fighting with it before giving up and tossing it. To start with it barely has enough power to pump water up to a tank on a normal height stand. It will do it, but do not expect anything beyond that. Next the media baskets do not fit together well and are to shallow for most pre packed media. Lastly and most importantly it leaks. First from the cheap gasket, the later from cracks in the incredibly cheap brittle plastic the canister is made out of. The only plus side is the self prime function which worked well. I do not recommend Top Fin canister filters. If you are in the market for one spend the extra money on a name brand one.
Date published: 2019-06-12

Rated 1 out of 5 by Bennej from Poor quality all around. Died after 3 weeks. The filter runs so quiet I have doubled checked to be sure it is actually working. If I could change one thing, it would be a way to drain the lines to prevent water spillage when disconnecting them to clean out the filter.
Date published: 2019-05-16

Rated 3 out of 5 by terry2 from ok for the price purchased this as a secondary or supplemental filter for my 75 gallon tank. the 350 bio wheel filter in it wasn't quite keeping up. Pros: after 24 hours the water is crystal clear. the unit is absolutely silent while running and energy efficient as it only uses 24 volts. the self priming feature works well. the spray bar returns water to the tank without creating strong currents. canister has a large interior and holds a lot of media. Cons: the rigid plastic tubes and connectors are low quality, light and thin, and do not connect together firmly. product is made in China. one of the "elbows" had a manufacturing defect and was far too narrow to connect to anything but the store exchanged it without issue. the flexible tubing connects to the rigid tubes only by friction fit which worries me although not leaking now. the rigid tubing is not adjustable and generally speaking is far too long for most applications. the suction cups that hold the spray return bar at the water line in the aquarium cannot support the weight of the tubing when full of water so you will have to support the tubing another way otherwise the bar gets pushed about 6" under the water. when the spray bar is at the water line, the tubing sits at least 6" above the top of the aquarium and is very conspicuous because all these tubes are too long. you need to buy an additional "polishing pad" insert because the unit only comes with a coarse filter sponge. So overall, lower quality but its also a lot less money than most others so my recommendation is a "qualified" yes.
Date published: 2019-05-09

Rated 1 out of 5 by Booyaah72 from -5 stars Bought this back in November with a larger tank and all the other goodies. It died today. I took it completely apart and put it back with NO filters in it just to see if it will move water. Surprise.....it wont. Its a complete waste of money. In about 40 yrs of owning aquariums this is the absolute biggest waste of money ever.
Date published: 2019-04-25

Rated 4 out of 5 by JDubNutz from Seems Solid So I didn't actually get to turn this thing on since it was too tall for the space I was planning on putting it in. The height with tubes attached is close to 16.5 inches. The latches seemed solid and the trays nestled quite well. It comes with nearly a full tray of biomedia. The only things I didn't like were the valves to shut off the flow were very tight and almost seemed like they could break off. Also, the filters probably too coarse. I recommend buying the finer white filter since it doesn't come the CF60.
Date published: 2019-04-03

Rated 2 out of 5 by BeeLee27 from Leaking after 1 month I own 2 of these for my 60g cichlid tank. One is working ok. The other just started leaking. Pros: easy setup, quiet, pretty strong, filters my tank of 35 cichlids very well. Cons: started leaking water out from inside the canister compartment unsuspectedly after about 3-4 weeks of use, made carpet wet all over, glad i caught it early otherwise my house would be flooded with water. The problem is the setup. Three hours later and many videos and researches later, I found the problem. The instructions say to attach the blue valve to the out and the white to the in. WRONG! Mine were backward. I did not want to try this step with all the reading I did on how that is how people broke their motors. But the last attempt was switching them and now it works. So good luck on setting up.
