Let me first state that I am a fan of Zoo Med products and the quality of all the individual pieces in this kit are great.
I purchased this kit for a sub-adult ball python.... The only thing that I ended up using from the kit was the tank/terrarium, substrate, thermometer, and under tank heater.
Why? It's summertime here and we keep our A/C at 76 indoors. The 100w daytime bulb was WAY too hot for the snake. The basking area was over 100 degrees so we switched the 100w bulb for a 60w bulb and the daytime temp is perfect. Of course, you can't leave the daylight bulb on during the night without stressing the snake, so the night time temp was too low. We switched the mini deep-dome lamp fixture for the dual/combo mini deep-dome so we could have a 60w day bulb AND a 60w moonlite night bulb to keep the temps in the sweet spot for ball pythons. The water dish and haba-hut/hide were too small for a sub-adult, so we bought bigger hides and a large corner water dish. The weight of the dual/combo mini deep-dome is too heavy to rest on the screen top so we had to buy the zoo med lamp stand. We also bought the zoo med day/night timer to automatically switch the lights on and off. The included aspen bedding/substrate is better for desert reptiles than it is for Ball pythons. The Forest Floor bedding is better for Ball Pythons.
This kit would be great for corn and king snakes... But it's not perfect for ball pythons. After we bought the kit we bought the following items NOT included in the kit to get it set up for pythons...
Dual/Combo deep-dome fixture, 60w daytime bulb, 60w moonlite night bulb, large corner water dish, lamp stand/support, an extra hide, the zoo-med repti shelter humid hide (medium), New Zealand sphagnum moss, day/night timer, humidity gauge, and forest floor bedding. Now it's perfect for our snake...for a year until she outgrows the 20 gallon. I would have been better off buying the 40 gallon bearded dragon kit....and adding a few things to set it up for snakes.
BTW in the winter, when the inside A/C heat temps drop to 68' I'll need to change out the 60w bulbs for 100w bulbs to keep, the the temps where they need to be.
