I have two Bettas and they love this log. The log is made of good material and does not scratch my fish's fins. The log floats on the top of the water well. The reaction from my fish was more than what I was hoping for. They both love to swim through it and play in it. The price is a bit high, but it's worth it. I totally recommend this to all fish owners that want a happy fish.

Does what it's supposed to do, but could be better constructed. I have a male CT betta and I'm especially careful of sharp and pointy or rough decor. I test the smoothness of decor by roughly running my hand and fingers all over and through it; if it cuts me, then it's no good for the fish. I pulled this out of the box in store and received 3 good cuts on one finger alone, however, the bits that cut me easily broke off and I was able to get it smooth enough to feel safe putting it into my tank.
The paint began to peel after 3 weeks. The paint is thick and and will start to break apart into jagged pieces and when this happens, it could easily damage your fish's fins. My fish loves the log, but I love my fish and for these reasons I cannot give a recommendation for this product.

I cannot recommend enough. If you have a tank for your betta give this a try.
I have a betta in a 5 gal planted heated filtered tank. He was already a happy camper but when I added this log he really felt at home.
He plays in it, sleeps in it, swims around it and just generally acts like it is his favorite thing in the world. There is a hole in the top for the occasional bloodworm treat, and it moves around the tank a little (floats near the surface) which makes it more interesting for him. It is weighted so that the same side is always up with the little feeding hole at the top.
Make sure you rinse it in hot water first (let it cool) before introducing to tank like the package says and do the next feeding in the hole top to get your betta interested in checking it out.
No problems encountered with introducing to tank. No damage to fins at all - and he is in and out of it constantly - so my vote is it is "super safe" after a month of use.

It gives my little betta a hideaway from his tank mates! My betta personally doesn't make bubble nests in here, but he does enjoying just hanging out inside the log!
