I purchased this CHE in mid Jan '16 for my ball python enclosure. I noticed when I went to move the lamp to feed her, that it was cold. This bulb could have been out a week and I wouldn't have noticed. (Of course the ambient temp would have dropped but I only check it twice a week after I know what the cage is running after a new bulb) I guess that is the draw back with CHE's in general but I expected more than a month out of a bulb of this price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by customer01 bad bulb
I had recently purchased this bulb for my tank. I intended to use this to increase the tempertaure. A few minutes after I had setup the bulb correctly, I start to smell something burning. I quickly ran over to my tank and shut off and unplugged the bulb immediately. I checked the temperature and it was at 76 degrees and the original temp was 70. Overall this was just my personal expierience. Maybe I just recieved a bad bulb?

Rated 3 out of 5 by animalangel For the record (this is in regards to a comment made in the previous review) UVB bulbs are necessary for a number of reptiles, the UVB rays allow your reptiles bones to absorb calcium. Without proper UVB lighting MBD occurs which leads to painful deformities, UVA rays stimulate a healthy appetite, activity, and over all well being of a reptile. UVA rays and heat combined are necessary for the well being of a reptile for a example a bearded dragon without proper lighting (UVB/UVA) and heat and adequate diet, will develop bone deformities, their internal organs will slowly start shutting down leading to impaction and or paralysis, and eventually death. As well though it is not stated on the box of the products, UVB bulbs all put a different UVB output out. For a reptile requiring a higher UVB output, a mercury vapor bulb is ideal. I think people need to do their research before confidently stating false information to others.
