I bought this tank as an upgrade from my 2.5 gallon, and now it is housing 2 fantail goldfish and 1 black moor. Before buying the larger tank, I did a lot of research and compared several brands over a large range of prices, and when I narrowed it down to my final options, it was a toss up between this aquarium and the Fluval Spec. I read all 43 customer reviews listed under this tank while I was comparing the two, and initially I decided on the Spec because many people said it's more practical and lasts longer. When I got to the store, however, I took the advice of a PetSmart employee and brought home the Top Fin...and I have to say, it's the best decision I have ever made for my goldies. In addition to having a sleek and aesthetic design, the filter produces practically no sound whatsoever and I was able to adjust the pump to the highest setting in order to maximize the cleanliness of the tank. The lights are positioned perfectly; they're very bright and give the tank a beautiful glow, although it would be nice to have some blue LEDs for a moonlight setting. I set up an aerator underneath the black gravel, as well as a few plants, some zen stones, and a small buddha head as the centerpiece of my tank. Overall it creates a very soothing atmosphere in addition to being an easy and rewarding experience. I can now add this tank to the list of Top Fin products that have exceeded my expectations!

Rated 5 out of 5 by HRuiz AWESOME PRODUCT!!!
This tank is seriously gorgeous! I'm going to be honest here...at first we purchased one of those $4.00 plastic fish bowls thinking it would be adequate for two small goldfish. WRONG! After the two poor goldfish dying, even though we cleaned the bowl and put fresh, declorinated water every night, it was time to buy a real tank with a filter. We ended up purchasing two oranda goldfish and bought this 5 gallon tank for a starter. Wow...seriously the tank is beautiful and actually really roomy for the two bigger goldfish, two plastic plants, two semi caves and 5 pounds of gravel. When everything was added in and the LED light is on, it looks amazing and so pretty and bright! When we put the fish in to introduce them to it, they looked so happy and swam around checking it all out. The built in filter has a switch from lowest to highest and we left it on highest and it is silent, not loud whatsoever. We always visit the PetSmart on El Toro Road in Mission Viejo and the employees are always super friendly and helpful. Anyway, buy this cool aquarium because you won't be disappointed!

Rated 4 out of 5 by PNelson123 Great Tank-Couple Things I Dont Like
I was looking at the Fluval Spec V. Then I came across this tank and I liked the way it looked better. So I got it while it was on sale, (only paid $29.99 for it) and for the price it is awesome. There is little space for a heater (I needed one because I was using it for a betta fish, so I had to put it outside of the grey area. A few things I don't like are (1. and probably the biggest one is that I was used to a silent filter with my other betta tank. I am not sure if I got a defective filter or what, but my filter make a pretty loud buzzing sound. It isn't something so annoying, though, that it would keep me from giving it less than 4 stars. (2. The limited space for heater (3. The filter intake is at the bottom, so if you use sand substrate like me, sand does get into the intake. It doesn't go anywhere from there, but I wont be able to get it out until I take down the tank.
Overall, this is a great tank for the price. The adjustable flow rate is very nice, my betta does alright with it, and I love that the sides don't have anything on them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Doglover112 nice tank but has bad things
i would recommend this tank to someone who will want to hear the filter make a noise. the only 2 cons about this tank that i dont like is that the lid doesn't have a feeding hole to feed the fish that u have to take the lid off completely to feed the fish and that once the filter piece gets low on water it makes a loud noise that is super annoying
