Only thing I like about this is the filtration only. Do not like the lighting at all; it makes it look like the water has an extremely high level of ammonia which it does not. It's yellow from the poor lighting. The tank itself is high instead of long which I prefer, and too much evaporation. Petsmart has such a poor inventory online and in store; I needed something fast due to a leak in my other one. I went somewhere else to get what I wanted. I'm sticking with API products.

As an experienced fish keeper of over 6 years, I expected way more from National Geographic. Unfortunately this tank set has let me down more and more the longer I have it. I bought this tank last year during black Friday and my biggest complaint was the filter and cartridge that were included.
The water eventually started flowing over the cartridge. I even tried to do my regular cleaning but the water continued flowing over it, so I unfortunately had to replace which could have thrown my entire Nitrogen Cycle but luckily, as an experienced fish keeper, I had bio media I could rely on. I eventually replaced the cartridge with my own media because the water kept flowing over the NG cartridges.
This worked for months, but I've always had an issue with the filter being more powerful and not being able to adjust the flow. The water level inside the filter kept rising, and biweekly filter cleanings were not enough. I started doing weekly and it still did not help. I had a 3 day weekend and came back to my tank half empty with the rest of the water on the floor. The filter overflowed! I immediately did a filter clean and refilled the tank. Two days later and the filter overflowed AGAIN! I'm buying a new filter and scrapping this one immediately!! This also means I need to buy a new light as well since the light is built into the filter system.
I regret buying this and wish I never did! The only good thing about this tank is that it holds water.

by ExcitedFail Great for a betta
I have had my tank for about 6 months now. It is still running and working great for me. I recently even completely redecorated it. Here's some more detailed info in response to some other reviews.
Yes, the tank cannot be filled to the very top. Yes, you do have to leave it about 1.5 inches from the top, but here's the thing: if you calculate the volume of water, even with taking into account the water level only being 12 inches high, the tank holds 6.6 gallons of water, so it still holds more water than advertised.
As far as the plug for the light, there is an additional plug that should come in the box that it plugs into, that will then be plugged into an outlet.
The glass is not cloudy. Mine is crystal clear now. It did go through a cloudy period for me when it was initially cycling, which is normal. It's a phenomenon called a bacterial bloom and you can keep that in check by keeping up on partial water changes and making sure not to over feed.
My betta has not had any issues with the water flow, but he also has always preferred hanging out around the perimeter of the tank. If your betta seems to struggle with the the flow, you could fix that one of two ways: either attached Velcro strips to diffuse the water flowing back into the tank or you could use some aquarium sealant to create lines across the waterfall sections to again diffuse the water flow.
I also have not had any issues with the filter being noisy as long as I've kept up on making sure the water level stays up. The water does evaporate pretty quickly due to the waterfall, but it hasn't been much of an issue since I do 25% water changes weekly to ensure my water quality is pristine. I just make sure to add enough water back to make it full again.
Overall, I really love the look of the tank and my betta is really happy in it.

by KinVa Cool tank with modifications
I love the rimless glass look on this aquarium. All seams are well sealed and strong. I used the waterfall filter top for about 2 months. It is great for any small species, however with a betta the current is a bit strong. I did diffuse the current using a cut long 30ppi black sponge and secured it under the waterfall. It worked fantastic. No noise what so ever from the pump motor. Kept water line at or just above the waterfall rim to help with current. Loved the light how it slowly brightened up so not to startle the fish. It does evaporate water fairly fast, but with a small tank like this it's not all to much trouble because you are. Doing water changes often enough to keep up with it.
I have since removed the waterfall filter and went with a small Finnex canister filter and plant led lights as I wanted to make a planted tank. I am throughly happy with how the tank has preformed and how it looks with the waterfall feature and now dressed out.
