For the most part, I really like this tank. I set this up to replace an aging AGA tall 65. While considerably less than the AGA I purchased as a similar setup with the ugly AGA pine stand, Whisper 400 OTB filter, light and heater, there are definitely a few things I see as improvements from my previous setup. First and foremost would be the footprint. I kept the 65 at my office until I took a job that has me commuting. I somehow convinced my wife to let me bring it home but quickly discovered that the 38x20 stand just wasn't going to fit well in the few places I could devote to it. I was more than apprehensive to put 700# on little more than paper covered sawdust, but the consensus is these are pretty stable. Even the owner of my LFS gives them his blessing. To Marineland's credit, the design and construction of the stand works. I was quite surprised to find this wasn't a cam lock, flat pack stand and came fully assembled using a variation on the pocket screw method. The other thing I really like about it is that the top of the stand sits flush against the wall. Not having everything shoved out another inch to accommodate baseboard and shoe molding is very nice. The length and depth of the tank coupled with how well it hugs the wall give you the feeling you have a lot of tank, yet it's not overbearing and cumbersome. The only con I'd give the stand is to really get a clean install, you're going to need to make some minor modifications. Sure, you could go in from the side of the stand with your cords and hoses, but IMO that takes away from the aesthetic. You actually have about 3/4" of exposed stand top all the way around. I made a small cutout in the back to allow for clean routing of my canister lines etc. and still keep a low profile.
As far as the tank itself goes...that's where I'm dinging it a star. It has a really hamfisted sealant job. They certainly didn't tape it to get clean lines and uniform thickness. If it were clear silicone, you'd never notice. Being black though, the lack of craftsmanship/attention to detail really shows. I had to clean up some errant silicone with a razor where they were just plain careless. It holds water all the same and with a black background and dark substrate it probably won't be noticeable to anyone who isn't in the know.
The LED light that comes with is pretty mediocre, but I didn't expect much at this price point so no major disappointments there. It'll do the job until I get a suitable replacement. I do like that it has day and night mode but I'm not a fan of the rocker switch to select between the two. I've had my lights on a timer for as long as I can remember. may have to splice and dice in the mean time to the whites on a timer and just leave the blues on all the time. Color temp isn't the best regardless so finding a viable alternative should definitely be on your must haves.
TL;DR- As others have said, decent tank for the money.

This is a excellent product "for the money". No, the stand isn't a really high dollar wood. But it looks pretty good and serves the purpose of holding the tank very well. Gives additional "out of view" storage for your fish supplies. Tank itself is very good quality. If you want a stand tha's better quality your going to have to pay a heck of a lot more money. Mine has held up very well under normal use and I'm very pleased with it. Great value for the money!
