My cats love to eat grass. They are indoor cats so in the past I have just cut grass from outside and given it to them. I have tried buying the containers of pregrown cat grass and they wouldn't touch it.
This item helped that issue. My cats love the grass. The grass is simple to grow, and I found that it grew faster than it said on the package.
My only issues are:
My cats won't play with the ball, so I would rather just have a container for the grass.
My cats also pull out the whole seed pod when they eat. I think if the holes were smaller this would happen less.
If your cats are messy eaters, it can make a mess. I usually have grass all over the floor around it. I just put it away then, and they eat what is remaining on the floor instead of pulling out more.

My kitty loves this! She is 3 years old and very playful. She likes the challenge of trying to get the ball out, and I like that it will never come out and get lost under furniture! The grass takes a bit of time to get started but it's not that difficult. If you follow the directions it grows very well. My kitty even enjoyed the toy without grass in the middle.

My kitty LOVES this. The ball can be noisy at night, so I just snap it out while we sleep. Setting it up was simple: Soak the seeds for 12 hours (easy to forget about.. mine soaked for about 18) sprinkle them onto the vermiculite in the tray, put it in a dark place for 1-2 days (I used a kitchen cupboard) and wait for sprouts, after most of the tray has sprouted set in a sunny room (out of the cat's reach) for 2-3 days for the grass to get nice and long... voila!
The over-all time is long, but it's just doing a natural thing while you forget about it and I will definitely be buying the replacement seeds/vermiculite.
Two downsides I'll give it is if the grass is too long (the recommended 5 inches) it tangles in itself as soon as the cat lays/sits on it and if your cat likes to pull back while chewing the grass, the seeds will usually come out with it (not sure if that's bad for digestion or not).
My cat did NOT get sick once while eating this grass and that was an initial worry because he's a 6 month old kitten.
7/10! Will buy (refills) again!
