My dog is taking training classes at our local store. In the first class, you receive a clicker in your training materials. I had forgotten one day and left mine at home, so I bought this one to get me through class for the night and to have an extra. The bone shape makes it a little awkward to hold, and my dog could barely hear it click. There is a small slider on the back to adjust the volume of the click. You can barely hear the clicks on the loudest setting, and the slider had a tendency to move on its own. Find a petsmart employee and get the clicker they use for the training classes. It is loud enough to catch your dogs attention and fits well in your hand.

I purchased this item not once, but twice with the same results: they both broke within hours of purchasing. I tested it at the store and since it seemed to work well, I went ahead to checkout. Once I got home, after a couple of clicks, the thing went dead. I think that there's a defect in the plastic that holds the metal clicker in place because would not click any more. I gave it another try and returned it for a new one with the same result. I do not recommend this product at all.

I purchased this because I want to try to use clicker training with my puppy. I don't believe that clicker training is necessary, but thought I'd try it. So I of course bought the cheapest clicker there. It didn't click in the packaging, none of them did so I figured there was just something stuck. Nope. DOES NOT CLICK AT ALL. It makes a faint sound, but not one that you can use to mark a behavior. Spend the extra $2 on a better one.
