Installation: Fill the bottle and mount the flat side against the outside of the cage, 4-6 inches above the cage floor, with the tube resting on a horizontal bar. The tube tip should be at or slightly above the shoulder height of your pet. Secure the bottle in place by hooking the spring holder onto the cage. Test for water flow by pressing the valve down until water flows. Always test the water bottle before leaving your pet alone. Some pets may require training. Always provide your pet with plenty of clean, fresh water.
Training Your Pet:
1. Lead your pet to the valve stem and, with your finger, move the valve up, down or side to side to release the water. Please note, water flow is not activated by pushing inward.
2. Slowly move your finger away as your pet starts licking at the water.
3. It is sometimes helpful to put a sticky treat, such as peanut butter or honey, on the valve. As your pet licks it off, they will release the water.
4. Make sure your pet knows how to use the valve and gets enough water before leaving them alone. It is recommended that you fill the bottle to one of the marked ridges so you can monitor their water intake. If the water level does not change, test the valve stem to make sure it is working properly, and provide an alternate water source while you continue training. Be patient as training may take time.
Maintenance: Hand wash and rinse the bottle weekly, or as needed. Not dishwasher safe. Check and refill your pet's water supply daily.
